Dennis Ryckman, who has coordinated this event previously for the Jaycees, says “this year the Pierre Junior Shooters will be the beneficiary”.

The trees have arrived, freshly cut from Minnesota on Saturday, November 17. We will begin selling trees today, Monday, November 19, 2012. “We have a variety of tree species again this year”, said project chairman Ryckman. “The Fraser fir is a short needle tree with excellent needle retention and fragrance. The Balsam fir is another very popular short-needle tree. The Canaan fir is a cross between the Fraser and Balsam. The White Pine is an excellent choice for those that prefer the soft long-needled trees. There will also be a few Scotch Pines and shorter table top Balsam trees to round out the selection”.

Volunteers are staffing the Pierre Junior Shooters tree sales starting today. The hours will be between 5:00 and 9:00pm on weekdays and noon to 9:00pm on Saturdays and Sundays, until the trees are all sold. The exception to that schedule is this Thanksgiving weekend. We will be closed on Thursday, and open from 8am to 9pm on Friday and Saturday. This Sunday and weekends following will be noon to 9pm.

“Since it is staffed by volunteers we appreciate your patience”, said Ryckman. “If you have questions or need help after hours, please call the phone number on the sign”.

The proceeds of the tree sales will go towards the Pierre Junior Shooters club which has already started air-rifle and pistol practice and the BB Gun signup is December 2.

5th National Title

The Pierre Junior Shooters BB Gun team came home from Rogers, Arkansas with national traveling trophy for a fifth time on July 4, 2012. This was the second consecutive title for the Junior Shooters and fifth overall.
